Chef Walter Leffler

Whether it’s on The Food Network, CNN or CNBC or in the pages of The New York Times, Food Arts or Art Culinaire Magazine, the name and face of Chef Walter Leffler has shown up in the hottest food media in the nation.   


After 4 decades heading up some of the finest restaurants and hotels in the nation, Leffler has begun to slow it down a bit and has relocated to Wells, Maine where he has vacationed for his entire life.


A graduate of Johnson & Wales University, Walter has also studied Asian food and culture at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York and hotel-restaurant management at the University of Houston in Texas.  He currently orchestrates, consults and directs the team of professionals at Saltwater Farm Market and Café in Wells, Maine; A team committed to the development and execution of quality-oriented and unique breakfast items, bakery goods and luncheon items.  


Chef Leffler’s career highlights have included The AAA 5-Diamond Hilton at Short Hills in New Jersey; The Seelbach Hotel, Louisville, Kentucky; the Willard Inter-Continental Hotel, Washington DC; The Peabody Hotel, Memphis, Tennessee; The Center Club, Baltimore, Maryland; Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress, Orlando, Florida; and The Empress Room in Orlando, Florida.  He is known for preparing outstanding cuisine that has delighted royalty as well as every United States President since Richard M. Nixon.   


Chef Walter taught culinary arts to young students at a local college in New Jersey for many years and had been on the board of many colleges and universities.  In early 1997 Leffler was inducted as a member of the prestigious Chaine des Rotisseurs and since has been elevated to a level of Vice Conseiller Culinaire.  He is also an active board member of the New York chapter of the international Escoffier Society.
